Low-Achieving Schools

There are many schools within the bay area that has shown no progression around the years of 2006 and onward. This is an impact that these schools have that will affect the students that attend it. With the poor amount of money that the government has seen in that district, they are able to get funds from the federal school improvement grant. This is just the start so children would have an education within their neighborhood. These schools range from Alameda all the way through as far as Los Angeles.  The lack of money is a problem to why those schools have such a low achieving performance as compared to other schools.
                This is very similar to some of the schools that were explained within salvage inequalities.  If the school doesn’t have enough supplies for their students, then the learning experience with be vastly different. The scores won’t be as high as compared to schools that have everything their students need. Textbook is one of the important things because it creates the environment of learning when the student holds that book and begin reading the pages. If a poorly funded school doesn’t have money for supplies and materials, then it will be hard for the students to have a proper education.  

                The education is the future of the world and children as well. Since schools that are shown to have low achieving scores, then it should be dealt with. Fix the problem and the school might have a higher success in their ways of education as well as in the educational level of their students. Any student should be treated fairly with education. Poverty issues can be helped with a concern government that will lend a helping hand if they don’t want to see more and more children fail from such a lowly educated school.

Federal Funds.

The lack of federal funding causes students in schools to be in an uncomfortable setting and unpleasant condition. This can be harmful to their learning education if they don’t have a good environment to study and learn in.  Kozol stated “Why should there be an elementary school within a skating rink? Why should the Board of Education allow this” (119). The quote explains a lot on how education is being funded, if they have to resort to place a classroom somewhere so remote. It is quite sad on how some children have to go to a classroom like that.

Three Reasons

-The first main reason why education is a big factor that changes our course of life is the decision making it has. If a student decides to make the environment better for others, they would have to research to a degree where a change can and will affect to environment. The other option that a student has is to wait it out until nature or someone else comes up with an idea to change the environment to be better for others. This can often get students a better job advantage when they are more upfront of their ideas and goals and takes action to pursue them.
-Another good reason why students should continue their education and not take it lightly is that it will bring out good health and a stress-free life as they reside in a good neighborhood. By having a timely mannered schedule that is planned out before the day starts is a good way to throw away stress that might come bother someone as they try to plan their day out. Also by living in a good community, it is quiet most of a time which means that sleeping at night will be more peaceful.
-With the commitment to pursue education and along the factors that were listed about having a good community and job opportunities, this can be a good outcome to have a good income and family setting. With the amount of income, the purchase of a good neighborhood near a good school would have higher chances than someone who doesn’t have these options opened.  This can be good for their future children to have access to a good community and school in which it can help to guide them to a better life.

TED Talk Sir Ken Robinson: Bring on the Learning Revolution.

I saw the Ted show about the learning revolution. What he said was very true that people with talents don't take that approach towards it. How some people don't do anything until the weekend, where they would spend the entire week just doing their job and rest on the weekends. Some people like this way of life while others are different. He also stated we should challenge yourself into things that we never have thought doing, because some people might be surprised how the feeling is while they are doing it. Since most people follow a general outline of their lives, they don't get to reach out and explore the other things out there. His idea of how wrist watch is from the generation 25 and above wears them while the youngsters that nowadays have phones to tell them the time instead of having to carry a watch. this is also seen in education everywhere. Students now have access to eBooks online and power points from teachers. some teachers still prefer to use worksheets and lectures about chapters inside a book. This was something that came up while i was watching the video.

Research Homework

The impact a person has on their passionate goal is highly maintained for most people. They have goals in which they would want to achieve by always being persistent towards that goal. In the article “On The Costs and Benefits of Gaming: The Role of Passion” it shares reasons why the gaming industry is so huge that people always have a passion to play it. It can either cause the person to show positive effects or negative effects. This relates to the passion project because professional gamers also are dedicated to their career. People around the world praise them as role models to show their supportive ways by cheering them on in championships. The Passion Project showed that it matters how people should do what they are conformable with and dedication towards that goal. Being passionate about something is very hard for most people due to friends, school, or family affairs or problems that conflict it. “A first implication is that passion matters with respect to affective gaming experiences” (Lafrenière, 288). This quote was appealing due to the expression of respect towards the gaming experience. If people never know the situation between the game and their players, the concept of which thrives them to play will be unknown. There was a similar issue that was announced in the Passion Project where someone stated that knowing their own degree with a passion takes time to acknowledge them. While others are trying to reach their goal, there will be some people who tend to drift off until they find out what they are passionate about. The article also stated a very eye-catching quote which reads, “Since people freely engage in the activity willingly with a sense of personal volition being derived from activity engagement” (285).
